One Ok Rock Concert: The Night My Wallet Went on a World Tour!

For nearly 14 years, I’ve been a die-hard fan of my favorite band of all time, One Ok Rock, consisting of Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to attend their concert in Indonesia, and it was a night to remember.

1. The Long Wait
After a decade of waiting, on September 29, 2023, the concert finally happened in Indonesia. My journey with One Ok Rock began back in 2016 when I attended my first concert in Singapore. I purchased tickets for a Jakarta concert in 2020, but it got canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It’s worth noting that in June 2023, I even had the chance to attend their online concert (which was super dope) as a prelude to the live show.

2. The Cost of Passion
Before diving into the concert experience, let me share how much I spent. Keep in mind that this is my personal experience, and expenses may vary. During the opening ticket sales, I was working in Bali (not at home). First, there was the war ticket, an absolute necessity. To ensure a stable internet connection, I even stayed in a hotel in Bali that I had surveyed for its internet speed, costing me Rp 700K. My eyes were set on VIP or Festival A tickets for the closest and best experience, which came to a total of Rp 3,400K, including tax.

3. Concert Day Expenses (for one-day concert purposes)
For the one-day concert (although I was staying in Jakarta for 3 days and 2 nights), I spent the following:

  • Round-trip travel from home to Jakarta: Rp 2,000K
  • Taxi for all purposes: Rp 700K
  • Hotel: Rp 2,500K (2 nights)
  • Miscellaneous drama (which I won’t tell here, lol): Rp 500K
  • Food and beverages: Rp 600K

And that didn’t even include my other expenses like culinary hunt, city leisure, shopping (of course, I had to explore the shopping scene in the most mall-filled city in the world, haha), catching up with some friends, and other stuff.

Buuh, don’t even think about the total cost of my entire trip! But you know what, every expense was worth it for this unforgettable experience.

4. During the Concert
The concert itself was a blast, with Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya taking the stage for their latest album ‘Luxury Disease’. Then, Indonesian OORers started screaming and requesting “We Are,” a song that wasn’t listed in their world tour setlist. This was super surprising, and I saw many of us crying with joy when they specially sang it for us!

The Confetti

As for my favorite song, “Mighty Long Fall,” unfortunately, it didn’t make the cut in their performance. Taka the vocalist, during his MC breaks, always checked on the audience and proved to be very skilled and creative at crowd control and stage acts. There was a moment when we were asked to get down on our knees and then jump like crazy – it was an electrifying experience!

5. Post-Concert Musings
I left the concert craving for more. Back at the hotel, I found myself searching for One Ok Rock’s tour dates in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. I was ready to book tickets and see Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya perform again, even dreaming about it that night – I’m pretty sure I was sleepwalking and jumping around in my sleep! Haha…

But here’s the kicker – as I write this blog, I’ve got severe leg muscle strain! I can barely walk straight and am in pain. Can you imagine, jumping for two hours, queuing for four hours, and screaming until my voice disappeared? (What a hardcore cardio!)

Waiting to start

Back home, I’ve already booked a session with my personal masseuse (despite usually hating massages). Why? Because on October 2nd, I have to fly to Singapore and Malaysia for a business trip. My life is beyond crowded!

6. Conclusion
In conclusion, I have no complaints; everything was perfect (apart from one or two minor hiccups). This concert was, without a doubt, the best live performance I’ve ever had the privilege to attend. Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya of One Ok Rock delivered an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.

Every penny that I have spent for this concert was worth it, and I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything in the world!!!!

I want to express my gratitude to the concert promoter, who successfully brought them to Indonesia after 10 years, the Indonesian OOR fans (I had my doubts, but you all proved me wrong. Even my mom suggested going to Singapore/Malaysia instead, she’s worried of the safety lol), my friends who were there for me (even though I ended up getting my ticket myself haha), and my family for their unwavering support, even if they didn’t fully understand why I spent so much on a concert (they know it’s because I’m a die-hard One Ok Rock fan). And thank you, God, for this incredible opportunity. I’m truly grateful and won’t take it for granted.

My last wish is that I can attend another One Ok Rock concert next year at Tokyo Dome in Japan!!!
