Why Retiring from Social Media was the Best Decision I Ever Made: Lessons Learned from 3 Years Away.
When I decided to retire from social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, I had no idea the impact it would have on my life. But as I look back on the past (almost) three years, I realize how much I’ve learned and how much I’ve grown.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the value of privacy. By stepping away from social media, I’ve learned to cherish my privacy and the importance of keeping certain things to myself. It’s been liberating to not feel the need to constantly share every detail of my life with the world.
I’ve also come to appreciate the importance of real connections. Without the constant distraction of social media, I’ve been able to invest more time in building meaningful relationships with family and friends. It’s reminded me of the value of quality time spent with loved ones.
Another lesson I’ve learned is the importance of self-acceptance. Social media can be a breeding ground for comparison, but being away from it has allowed me to focus on my own journey and develop a greater sense of self-acceptance.
Without the constant scroll of social media, I’ve found myself with more time for personal growth and pursuing hobbies I enjoy. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to invest my time in things that truly bring me joy.
Lastly, taking a break from social media has had a profound impact on my mental health. It’s reduced my stress and anxiety levels and allowed me to focus on my own well-being.
Overall, retiring from social media has been a transformative experience that has allowed me to focus on what really matters in life. It’s given me a new perspective and taught me invaluable lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
